After the Space Wars, vast regions opened to both honest and dubious ventures. Planets began reaching beyond their borders, often discovering species they had never imagined might be their equals — or deserving of fair treatment. In this unsettled era arose Der Jägers, "the Hunters," highly specialized treasure seekers who pursued rare artifacts. They came in every shape and size, as varied as the species they represented, and were drawn to both the ordinary and the unseen.

It was into this strange world of artifact hunters that the Wesley, once a military mobile spaceship repair vessel, unexpectedly fell. At the end of the war, the Wesley was sold to a sharp civilian businesswoman building her own fleet. She entrusted her pride and joy to a former Spaceforce captain known for intelligence and fairness — one who would navigate the politics of planets and spaceports, turn a profit, and eventually earn ownership of the ship.
